A partner of this event since 2005, Siemens will be taking part in the 7th edition of the World Investment Conference (WIC) organised in La Baule France from 3 to 5 June 2009.

Inventing the Cities of Tomorrow
The exponential growth of the world’s population subjects the environment to a constant pressure that comes with a growing shortage of natural resources. These evolutions guide our strategic decisions. Today, more than half of the world’s population lives in urban areas, 65% by 2025. Additionally, in 2015, 350 million humans will be living in megalopolises (cities with over 10 million inhabitants). Cities currently produce 80% of the earth’s greenhouse gases. In its environmental portfolio Siemens is putting forward products and solutions that are capable of meeting the challenges of urbanization: mobility, safety, power supply, water treatment and supply. Reducing our clients’ carbon tax is our group’s priority around the world.
